DESCRIPTIONS
ONE LINER ► a long-haired brown and white tom with hazel eyes
Art ► Sprite from Clangen (will be changed to art once I get some done!)
DETAILED ► Driftstorm is a soft brown, long-haired cat whose fur is almost always at least a little tangled, although he tries his best to keep proper mats from forming. A couple stripes adorn his face and tail, and his fur grays a little bit around his face and along his spine. He has white socks on all four paws, white at the tip of his tail, and a splotch of white on his face. His eyes are a hazel green that almost blend in with his brown fur.
PERSONALITY
DETAILED ► Difficult to get to sit still for too long, Driftstorm is almost always on the move, pacing if nothing, and very likely asleep when he's not. He has a hard time paying attention to long speeches or lectures, finding it easier to follow conversations that have shorter sentences and pauses between, and he sometimes goes a little off topic if he starts to ramble, but he does his very best to listen and remember, even if he's not very good at either of them. He is lighthearted, often quick to laugh at his own mistakes, and doing his best to put others at ease, even at his own expense. More recently, he has begun to be a little hard on himself for his difficulties paying attention and remembering things, but it isn't very easy to notice about him yet, unless you know him well and happen to catch him brooding and also see past his attempt to play it off.

► Driftkit was a pawful. There is little more to say than that--what harmless trouble could a kitten get in? Driftkit had either done it, or just gotten the notion for it. He was not a bad kit, he just wasn't always good at sitting still, or remembering not to wander off, or paying attention to instructions, or listening to the why those instructions were important. There was so much to see and do, and so many cats to bother! How could he be bogged down by trying to remember all that? When he was named Driftpaw, and given to Rainwhisker to mentor, everyone thought that that was the perfect pair. Surely, Rainwhisker, of all cats, could keep Driftpaw's attention, and teach him the discipline he couldn't learn under Honeyblossom. If only that were the case. The two clashed throughout his apprenticeship, Driftpaw shrinking under Rainwhisker's strict tutelage, and Rainwhisker only growing stricter for it.
Driftpaw could have, of course, spoken to his mother about his troubles, and Honeyblossom likely would have made him feel better and comforted him and all those things a mother would have done, but it was his grandfather, Ashenstorm, who he found solace in after a long day of struggling to keep up with Rainwhisker. The two would talk, and Ashenstorm would relate to him of the troubles he got up to when he was as young as Driftpaw, and encourage him to respect Rainwhisker's instructions, and without fail, Driftpaw would be ready the next day to try again, even if it resulted in the same frustrated evening. Still, he kept his spirits up, within and without his training sessions, trying to laugh away his mistakes and seeming to take it all not too seriously. They clashed over this, too, but the more pressure was put on him, the less he seemed to try, almost afraid to get his hopes up about it all, almost afraid of the disappointment he would feel in himself for it. Eventually, though, a little later than is perhaps usual, he graduated his apprenticeship. Ashenstorm did not get to see his ceremony, having passed just days before, but Driftpaw honored him with his new name, Driftstorm.
It was only after graduating that he began to really grow into himself, keeping up his practicing of all Rainwhisker's lessons even while finding himself avoiding his old mentor. It was only after Ashenstorm died, and he didn't know who to talk to, that he really learned how to sit and think on things on his own, and how to not always act quite as immediately as he once did. He still wishes he could speak with his grandfather often, but he is learning, slowly, how to work through things on his own. Where once he avoided Rainwhisker for their clashes of personality, and memories of arguments, Driftstorm finds himself now ashamed of how he acted in his apprenticeship. He doesn't know how to look Rainwhisker in the eye, understanding now how hard she tried for him. He hopes she isn't ashamed to have been his mentor.
