Born to a mother of ShadowClan, Laburnumwish, and a father of ThunderClan, Nightingalesky, he and his littermate, Valeriankit, were extremely close. They did everything together, even when his brother at times grew agitated due to his penchant to cling. Swankit loved his brother more than anything in the forest. He proudly stood at his brother's side as his deputy during their games, lifting his head to the skies where he knew silverpelt lay just beyond the clouds when the great Valerianstar addressed him as Swanfeather. Brave warrior. Fierce fighter. Swankit always dreamed of becoming a warrior alongside his brother. Until he didn't.

Their parents had tried their best to hide their tumultuous relationship from them. Laburnumwish claimed they had no father. Nightingalesky had made the risky decision to ensure she was proven wrong. While his brother aimed to appease their mother and make her proud during his training, Swanpaw found himself longing to go after his father every time he left. He would be a warrior, a devoted member of ShadowClan... but would it cost him everything he had finally found for himself? Not a mother that snapped at him for not being determined to become a leader like Valerianpaw did, but family that cared for him as though he meant something, apart from a simple token to be used and moved where anyone liked.
Perhaps it was a twist of fate that had him feeling such a way for the few moons before the attack. Too much happened, too fast. If asked, Swanpaw was unable to say anything, but the lone eye that remained shone with fear. He would shake as he sat, suddenly feeling as though he was a kit again. It was only Goldenwish, pressing against his flank and licking the top of his head, assuring him he was no longer alone, back in those dark pines, that would have him returning from that bleak metaphorical cliff's edge. For his troubles in fighting for his life, his eye was damaged, rendered blind once he'd recovered, and his leg had been twisted just enough that it made being of any real use on a battlefield null and void, apart from the one thing he could do.
The one thing his brother seemingly could not be capable of.

► MEDICINEHOOD +
Becoming a medicine cat wasn't something he'd aspired to being when he was a kit and then later on apprentice. He had his heart and his mind set on becoming a warrior. StarClan, however, had other ideas in mind for him. This turned out to be a rather good thing. Swansong has believed, since his first meeting with the moonstone at the side of his mentor, that he was always meant to be a medicine cat. A proud ThunderClan member with the gift of communing with their warrior ancestors. It was ShadowClan and the darkness that persisted within due to Laburnumwish and Valerianpaw's existences that blotted out any chance for StarClan to commune with him through dreams. It was their interference that helped him to escape his prison and be united with a clan who truly cared for him. He may have been born ShadowClan, but he is of ThunderClan blood, from his physical veins to his spiritual ones. Darkness is rising in the forest once more, however, and Swansong has come to learn of a dark truth: his brother has ascended to the power he always longed for. With Valerianstar leader of ShadowClan, it's only a matter of time until spilled blood floods the forest they call home.
